This is me! Logan Harris!

Welcome to my site!

My name is Logan Harris, and I'm currently a sophomore of business at Washington State University (WSU)! My goal for this site is to illustrate my journey in my exploration of DTC and graphic design.

Overall, I want to see a merge of business processes, marketing, and illustration to create a new type of art form of business design.

This specific site shows my progress in the tools and methods of DTC and how I developed those skills through the fall semester of 2022. Check it out!

This is my cat. I felt like including him :)

Assignment 1:

With this assignment, I wanted something with color while also being directed to show a contrast of positive and negative space. Therefore, I immediately thought of Pixar's up, one of my favorite movies. I love that movie due to the colors illustrated throughout the film. That search led me to a hot air balloon. The image turned out easy to cut (due to high contrast) and still having the colors I was seeking.

Project 1:

With project one, I was directed to utilize a "vintage" theme and utilize that theme in a collage (also utilizing a blur or pixel effect). Utilizing Photoshop, I edited a vintage advertisement (the boy) onto a spacey sci-fi theme. Following the subject theme of baseball, I utilized photoshop's built-in blur and partnered that with a motion blur technique to create the planet movement. I hoped to illustrate the picture as if the planet was a baseball, and the boy the batter.

Assignment 2:

With assignment 2 we dove into the tools of pattern creation. Our class was directed to utilize the pattern function in illustrator and create 4 unique patterns (that were not the traditional shapes). All four of my designs are shown on my running blog, however, this specific design is my favorite. Utilizing one of my favorite colors, orange, I paired this color palette with a manipulation of my other patterns. The final product wasn't expected, and I think the colors make a type of "palm tree" image. I personally think this would look great on a Hawaiian-style shirt!

Project 2:

Project 2 was when I really tried to call back to my mission statement: trying to merge business and graphic design. For this project, our class was directed to create an infographic on any topic utilizing illustrator. I chose the topic of "Enterprise System Architecture" which is a topic that we study in Management Information Systems (MIS) AKA Business. This infographic was a little bit unorganized due to the complex topic trying to be explained. Nonetheless, I think it definitely illustrates the network that an enterprise system creates and the text bubbles quickly explain any complex topics.
